Welcome National Candidates
The National Executive Board (NEB) is the governing body of the National Society of Black Engineers. Comprised of mostly students and a few technical professionals, the NEB administers the affairs of the National Society. As NSBE’s Board of Directors, each member of the NEB has duties that are assigned in the National Constitution and the National Bylaws. Members of the National Executive Board are expected to:
- Be a master of the mission and purpose of the organization
- Manage people, projects and resources effectively
- Make executive decisions
- Strategize and focus on "the big picture" to drive the organization
- Communicate professionally (working with corporate sponsors and the public)
- Have a global perspective and consider the National organization (not just chapter, regional, alumni, etc.)
The NEB is comprised of elected and appointed members. Elected members of the NEB are voted in by the National Senate and have voting privilege while appointed members of the NEB are appointed by the elected members of the NEB and do not have voting privilege. All elected members must be a Member as defined in the National Constitution. All appointed members can be either a Member or an Alumni member of the society with the exception of the National Convention Committee Planning Chairperson which must be held by a Member.
If you would like to run for a position, you can download the National Candidates Handbook (link to document) and follow the instructions. Applications are being accepted starting Friday, February 1st, 2008. Due to a recent National Bylaws change, candidates for the National Executive Board will NOT be accepted at National Convention. All applications must be received by Sunday March 2nd, 2008.
