NSBE Spotlighted Leader: Nathaline Barnswell

Nathaline Barnswell

When did you first fall in love with NSBE?

When I joined NSBE in 2003.

What was your most memorable NSBE experience?

The most memorable NSBE experience was my first time at the National Convention when I had the opportunity to see all the other professional black engineers in large numbers. How they interacted with each other and how the Regional board presented themselves to the membership.

Why you decided to be a NSBE Leader?

I decided to become a NSBE leader b/c I wanted to be the extra hand to get things done. I wanted opportunity to help the other members who were just joining the organization as well making the events and efforts that were being put forth by chapter leaders successful.

What do you feel you have gained from NSBE Leadership?

  • I have had the opportunity to Network with people of various backgrounds in NSBE such as people on the corporate and the academia fields.
  • I had the opportunity to grow I leadership through experiencing the interaction other leaders.
  • I had the opportunity to lead a group or a project that actually had money involved.
  • I had the opportunity to be mentored, tutored, and guided in my decisions about my career plans
  • I have also had the opportunity to give  back.
