Who are NSBE senators and delegates?

NSBE Senators and Delegates are any dues paying non-affiliate members of NSBE appointed by their respective chapter. Senators are collegiate members and delegates are alumni members.

Collegiate Chapters

Two (collegiate) senators are required from each NSBE collegiate chapter. These 2 chapter senators become members of their prospective regional senate. In other words, if you’re a senator from Region 2, you become a member of the Region 2 Senate. The 6 regional senates then comprise the NSBE National Senate due to the fact NSBE is divided into six geographical regions. The National Senate has jurisdiction over the entire society.

What do NSBE (collegiate) senators do that no one else in the society can?

  • Vote annually on the elected offices of the NSBE National Executive Board.
  • Vote annually on the elected offices of your specific Regional Executive Board.
  • Vote at any time to amend the NSBE National Constitution
  • Speak on behalf of their respective chapter in Regional and National business
  • If you’re from Region I and Region VI, your respective Regional Senate can exclusively amend your Regional By-Laws.

Note: The regional executive boards from Region II, Region III, Region IV, and Region V can amend their By-Laws in addition to their Regional Senates.

What do NSBE (collegiate) senators receive that no other NSBE member receives?

  • Discounted registration rates to every Regional or National NSBE conference!
  • Guaranteed food on certain days of the National Convention!
  • Guaranteed food at certain Regional Conferences! (Contact your respective

Regional Chair for more information)

Note: These perks only apply once you have been appointed in a timely fashion (via NOL) and have registered with your Regional Parliamentarian and the National Parliamentarian

Alumni Chapters

Two (alumni) delegates are required from each NSBE alumni chapter. These 2 chapter delegates become members of their prospective regional house of delegates. In other words, if you’re a delegate from Region 2, you become a member of the Region 2 House of Delegates. The 6 regional alumni houses then comprise the NSBE National (alumni) House of Delegates due to the fact that NSBE is divided into six geographical regions. The National House of Delegates has jurisdiction only over the alumni extension of NSBE.

What do NSBE (alumni) delegates do that no one else in the society can?

  • Vote annually on the elected offices of the NSBE Alumni Executive Board.
  • Vote annually on the elected offices of your specific Regional Alumni Executive Board.
  • Vote at any time to amend the NSBE Alumni Operating Guidelines
  • Speak on behalf of their respective chapter in alumni Regional and National business.
  • Vote to amend your regional alumni operating guidelines
